Default I've been missing

Haven't been around the forum too much. My 7+ month pregnant wife and 3-yr old daughter were in a car accident recently. Nothing too serious, thank God, but they were hit by a young kid who wasn't paying attention. Had to take a trip to the hospital and such and now chasing everyone down at the insurance company to make sure we aren't getting shafted is a full time job in itself. Hope to be back in full force shortly.

John

Sorry to hear about the accident, especially with a pregnant wife - that is the scariest thing. Happy to hear not that serious and that the person that hit them was insured - it's a little bit easier if they are insured.

Thanks everyone. The GOOD news is that everyone has been without pain or any other symptoms since Saturday. Also, got a call from the insurance company and they are accepting liability for the accident...so the doctor bills, hours missed at work, mileage, new car seat, and repair of the vehicle should all be paid for...hopefully timely.

They are also wanting to "settle up" on the cash payout....of which I know ABSOLUTELY nothing about...being a young'in and all and never going through this. I never have been a greedy person and not after what's not due to me so I might get taken here
Anyway, I think I will wait for my son to be born in early November to make sure everything is 100% A OK before I even talk with them about it.

john, get a lawyer. offer the lawyer 25% of "pay off" for insureance company. this way oyu won't get screwed. it's worth the 25%.

Hey Mo. I have worked for attorneys in two states. It is definitely worth the time to have a consultation with a reputable attorney. If you don't know a reputable attorney who practices in the personal injury field, call your state Bar Association. Someone there should be able to point you in the right direction. I would definitely wait until after the new baby is born to be sure all is okay.
