Does anybody pour plastics?
I have been researching a while and thinking about buying a few molds and pouring a few baits. I noticed if it doesn't work out well, the resale isn't half bad on the stuff either. Does anyone else pour any or their plastics?

Do you use plastic or aluminum molds, or build them? I saw a paste mold, but I don't understand making the 2nd sid how they have it laid out. I will dig a little deeper. Alright, I am going on the search. Thanks Bender.

We use aluminum molds for stuff that we sell, got 18 of them so far, many are custom. We have made some 2 piece molds out of fiberglass resin and some other plastic compounds but they never turned out quite right. Many guys use Plaster of Paris, but I don't think that it would produce molds good enough for making lots of baits. (we just shipped an order of 2160 baits) I think POP would work fine if you are making baits for yourself, but there are many steps to getting the air out and sealing them.
Check www.tackleunderground.com for instructions on making them. |
