Default Loop Knots for Poppers

I've had several people tell me to use a loop knot to tie on poppers. It's suppose to give it more of a walking action. I'm just worried that the friction of the loop rubbing the tie point would weaken the line strength. Anyone have expirience or an opinion on this? Also, which loop knot is best for this?

I suppose that is a possibility but given that a company like rapala recommends their loop knot for their lures that don't have a split ring, I would presume it is safe to say their loop knot is worthy of the rigors of fishing.

I am certain a quick visit to their site will lead you to instructions on tying the knot.

no it doesnt create friction. the line is going to be wet at the line tie.

Or more precisely, while it does create friction, due to the lubricating effect of the water, the amount of friction becomes negligable...

i use a coast lock snap. i find it does give the bait more freedom to move.. i do NOT like to tie straight up with a popper or a walk the dog bait..

Hey Zook, always been wondering this since I saw you were an 'ol pro to this site. What does Zooker mean/stand for? Also, what is your icon supposed to be, and why is it whatever it is?

Thanks for all the other info so far. You and all the other old geezers() on this site have really helped me in my bass fishing career.

Whoa, hittin up Zooker with some personal questions, you are treading into some unchartered waters here boy.

PS: I dont appreciate being called an Old Geezer, I very much value both my veteran status on the boards and the fact I'm only 16, haha.

the icon is as it has always been a devil..the currant one i happen to get sent to me by a member here. the currant one is the playa devil.. i have had grumpy, smokey, and death as advatars on this site alone..

if you click on my username you will see a advertisement for bilge beer. it is the after taste your after -lol-it is basicly a boat restoration insider joke..

and since your just bustin at the seams to know.yes i spend over $5k in tackle alone a year. i like the color blue, long walks on the beach, i prefure chinesse, mexican's,and freaks as top three choices for a date.

On the bright-side Lunker, he was nice about it!

PS: as he may seem somewhat half-hearted about it, do not nag him about the identity of his name, the 'playa devil' [haha] will quickly turn into the 'grumpy devil,' if you catch my drift.

For Spooks and poppers I use a cinch knot pulled up tight beneath the line tie and get the action I prefer.
