Stop the press! Who dat talkin 'bout Shimano?
So I'm a huge BPS Baitcasting reel fan. In particular the Pro Qulifier especially for its price to performance and quality ratio. Well I got a great deal on the Shimano Caenan and finally got one. I've always wanted a taste of a Shimano reel so I couldn't pass this deal up. I have slid this reel right up there just behind the PQ. I was worried about the lack of adjustable centrifugal brakes but that has been put to rest. This thing cast as smooth as the PQ and just as far. Plus I've been throwing it into a stiff wind the past couple of days with just about the same distance and no hint of backlash. WOW!!! I have to spend some more time on the water with it and different lures and techniques before I can really say if the PQ has met its match or not, but it's off to an excellent start. Stay Tuned!!!
Please speak on it if you're using it too. |

Glad to see you are pleasantly surprised. Btw, what did you mean by lack of adjustibity of the brakes? Did they change their design?
Lastly, you've embarked on a journey to the dark side and can no longer go backward. I foresee a chronarch in your future, lol. Shimano reels kick butt into the wind. They always have.

The Caenan has a graphite frame and the PQ has an aluminum frame, that's a pretty big difference in my book.

X1000... my brother is on his second pinnicle(graphite), dummy wont save his money 2 weeks to buy a flippin bps reel or PQ for that matter. not knocking the OP, even if your not a bass slayer, that plastic frame will last maybe 2 seasons, if you use like your should lol

Well I'm a weekend warrior angler so-to-speak so the reel won't be subject to extreme abuse and being tossed around in a boat. The guys at bass pro also said I've entered into a point of no return. I told them I'm now thinking about the citica and they told me to save $30 and get the Curado, twice as much reel.
