tank select switch in Ranger boat
I recently purchased a used Ranger boat. Can someone tell me what the aux position is for on the dual gas tank selection switch? It has 4 positions off, port, starb and aux. thanks

COWLING,
It is just put there to confuse the newbies. It has no purpose. I wondered the same thing, so I put my first ranger on "AUX" and took off down the lake. I ran out of gas shortly, and never did that again. I think it may be for some of the larger ocean boats so they can add a third gas tank or something. JackL

The port side is for left. Port side is spelled P O R T . The last letter has a "T" same as left !
Wow, who cares. That was some valuable info that you may wish to pass on. Yea right !

The switch is setup as jackl said. The switch they use or did use was one that they put in all there boats that have split tanks and a reserve tank. They didnt want to have multiple switches laying around and make the mistake of putting in the wrong switch on the wrong boat. Anyways the switch operates just like the markings are port is the left tank, starboard is the right tank and the auxilary is for a reserve tank that some boats have. In my laser that I am building I have the same setup. I have 2, 12 gallon small tanks on the port and starboard side and a 6 gallon tha I have mounted in a space in the center to keep the boat level when running. Sorry bought the rambling on but I do that when talking bout boats and bass.
