Aluminum boat sound issue
I guide from an Aluminum boat part of the year in the backwaters of the Potomac. Fish would spook all the time from somebody dropping a pair of pliers or whatever. Tapping foot and stuff like that would cause fish to run for cover in the late summer when the water is gin clear. I fixed it by getting some work walkway mats. The foam ones that interlock about half inch thick. Easy to cut to size and used velcro strips to fasten down. Worked great.. BUT you need a travel cover on the boat so they do not blow out at 60 mph down the road.

I used to own a small car audio shop , and kids like bass ( not the fish ) anyway there trunks would rattle so I installed my fair share of this stuff , it would also stop alot of noise and vibrations...

Also , I would think if you had a professional spray in bedliner ( in your color of choice ) it would also deaden sound and waterproof the boat even more , provide grip , and look cool.... like Rhinoliner.

That was my thought, CMorg-those bedliners are great. Had one put in the day after I bought my truck and haven't regretted it for a minute.

We put carpet in our canoes down here as not to scare the tailing redfish!

The rino spray on stuff will not work unless you grind the surface down to the metal and remove the paint.. Sandblasting works best..And it is has never been pitted from saltwater. Plus it adds a lot of weight. In the summer it is hot as hell in the sun. I have seen it on many boats and it works for a year or so. This is removable ,washable, and replaceable at 1/4 the cost..

I am sure that black foam doesnt get hot in the sun either huh ? , the spray on liner has got to be lighter than wood and carpet....

blowing out......
I think you could secure it down with heavy duty liquid nails.....a couple of strips of the adhesive will hold a lot. Just an idea....Mac

another guide I know of also uses an aluminum boat. he actually uses the noise to his advantage........in certain situations of course. The first spot he took us to was a fork in hte river. one of the forks had really muddy water right next to gin clear water. he stopped the boat right at the edge of the muddy water and started stomping his feet like a madman. he could see the fish coming out of the muddy water into the clear and swim about 20 feet to a nice laydown, he put the trolling motor down and we quietly went over to the laydown and threw shiners, didn't have a problem with the spooked fish at that point, lol.

Used the exact same set up in my boat. Very quiet, and provides some nice padding for the feet. Doesn't get as hot as you may think. I bought mine at wallie world, home depot and lowes also sell them. They even have different colors. I used stainless screws and washers to hold it all in place.

You can find it in multiple colors and with letters of the alphabet and numbers too. You know, for the little ones who may get a little bored when the fish aren't biting. Sometimes you may need something to do too . One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish .

I use a plywood deck, use foam insulation bracing in between the hull and the deck in areas you use alot, much like glass bathtub, or shower unit installations and of course carpet over the top of the wood.P N J
