Welcome to the site Sarge! Be sure to fill out your profile! Unfortunately for you, I have no idea what slick strips are. Somebody will though...

yes and I think they are a life saver...perforated tops , usually in black and good adhesive make it simple to install on any area you may be walking the trailer in the water, usually up by the tongue and each side, everyone knows how slippery with moss the ramp area can get, this helps~! also anyone ever smack the sh*t out of thier knee on the adjustable wheelstand on the tongue? a piece of pvc pipe to cover it sure helps, plus it gives ya that "redneck" look that all the better anglers have rofl.

umm jb
he means the slick strips that screw on the boat bunks. i do not have them on my lil boat -yet- but i have used them on large vessels. they do work especilly in shallow launchs the only problem i have had is you MUST leave the winch hooked up till just before ya hit the water. i seen a large skeeter slid off the trailer 1/2 way into the water.the bow wacked the ramp but good.. zooker

Thanks for the info, Zooker you guess the thing I meant. I guess I didn't explain enough. I have a 99 Triton TR17, and the trailer bunks are wearing thin. I saw these slick stip things at Bass Pro, but was a little worried about them. I think maybe it's better if I just replace the carpet. Again thanks.

Sarge, welcome to the forum! I'd stick with replacing the carpet. Probably less expensive to do that, too.

Got a guy in the club who took some PVC pipe and ripped it in half, then screwed it to the edges of his bunks, doesn't look good, but it slides off as nice as mine does, with roller bunks.
If yau are looking at the astethic(sp?) aspct of it, yeah, the carpet is the way to go then |

i've used them on my last 4 boats.IMO,they save a little wear and tear on the bunk carpets.also easier to winch the boat up in shallow water.the boat does slide off easier.i keep the winch strap on when using steep ramps.

I kbnow of folks that swear to them I swear at em. I personally like the carpet grabbing the hull when I am trailering the boat by myself. Just an old fart I guess.
