Default My oldest was baptized today

Today my oldest son Dylan, 8, was baptized. I am very proud of him. We have done our best to raise him in a Christian home, but I have never pressed him on his salvation. Maybe I am wrong for being this way, but I feel it should be his own decision under when he choose to take accountability. And to be so young, I feel he is still innocent. But he has been coming to us and explaining his feelings so we led him to our pastor. Dyl is a very smart and conscience child. And I feel he is way beyond his years in the comprehension. I still hold myself accountable for him, but I am glad to know he has laid faith on the line and came out publicly to profess it. Just thought I would share it with y'all.

That is awesome Curado! When we all met up at Branson I thought that for his age he had an amazing head on his shoulders, and I also knew that had to come from his mom lol. But either way you guys are raising 3 good kids and this is just an example of it. I am proud of him for this and proud of you and Flea for laying the ground work for him to be such a fine young man.

I think that is awesome Bubba! To me, it means so much more if the person getting baptized really believes and wants it for themselves. It shouldn't be something you force on someone who might not understand or have it in their heart. You should be very proud of Dylan!

Man, that's awesome, Bubba. "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."

Thats wonderful news Bubba! I agree totally with you not pressing the salvation/baptism thing. That is something that can't be forced and you probably did Dylan a favor by letting him come to terms on his own. It's a much more personal meaning for him that way. Being baptised without any input or personal desire to do so is meaningless IMHO. It's a public declaration of a persons turning away from the old life and accepting Christ as their savior. I'd say as a father and mentor, you doing very well. I applaud you.
