Smallie Trip with a new PB Smallie(pics)
Ryan and I went to the Huron River today and fished for some smallies. The river is in a heavily wooded area which doest really ley you walk down the bank very well so we had to walk in the river. After venturing downstream about a 1/4 mile we found a spot that was FULL of smallies. I ended with 4 from that spot with the biggest about 14". We then decided to go upstream to a deep hole that we already knew about. I caught one pretty quick and then another 10 minutes later. About another 15 minutes go by and my line is movin to the side so I reel up slack and pull. Ryan asked if it was a big one and I was like "No, she's not that big." Ryan saw the flash and he was like dude thats a 3 lber! Thats when she started bulldogging me and I loosened up the drag. Good thing I did because she started pulling drag right away. She almost went between my legs and soon she had me turned 360 degrees back to where I started with her. Ryan lipped her and she was BARELY hooked. We left the hook in her while we went to the bank to take pictures. After we got pics we put her back and had to swish her back and forth to get her going again. I caught her on a SK Bitsy tube with a 1/8 oz head. I finished with 10 total.

Way to go Cavs! Sounds like a nice little smallie honey hole you have there. Better keep that one secret.

Sounds great! River smallies are really the best, absolutely the funnest fish to catch!! We'd been catching em on 3" Mimzo tubes on 1/8oz heads pretty good here. What did your measure your the big one you caught? I caught one around 17" and the golden rule said around 3lbs.
Can't wait to see those pics.... is Ryan home yet, lol!

Yeah, it was a great time, although I didn't hook into anything big that day... (I did manage a couple of 2.5 pounders earlier in the week. Pics below....
