Water Temp
Often when talking techniques and stratigies I am asked the water temp. When boat fishing, no problem the electronics take care of it . But when shore, tube or small craft fishing the electronics are usually not availble. So while I was out feeding the monkey I came accross a small thermometer. It's made by Wright & McGill called a River Thermometer. It's pen shaped and size. It's metal with a dime sized split ring on one end so if boating you can tie a piece of braid on the end or better yet , when tying on a new lure, tie the thermometer on first then drop it down to the depth you want to fish, pull it up and you got actual temp not surface temp. Cost...7 bucks, a little cheaper than electronics! Just thought I'd share! Oh ya, I got my deer on the way to feed the monkey, kind of a spendy trip! Spent 100 plus just trying out new "fall fishing frenzy" lures . Some how I may regret asking that question!

I use a similar thermometer, also called a Stream Thermometer, usually found with the fly-fishing supplies. Handy gadget to have along.

I wanted to know the water temp. while wading so I bought a swimming pool thermometer for $3 at NAMCO.I tie it to a D-ring on my backpack and let it drag behind me, works great.
