Default How do they compare?

I was curious if anyone has used both Lucky Craft crankbaits, and Luck-E-Strike crankbaits. I have my share of Lucky Crafts but never have used a Luck E Strike crankbait. They look very similar, and with Rick Clunn defecting from Lucky Craft to Luck E Strike, with his square billed cranks, I wonder how similar the two baits are?

I haven't used the Luck E Strike crankbaits either and I never will. It really bothers me that they copy other companies baits to a tee. I know that there is nothing original in fishing tackle, I get that but when I see a jerkbait that is an exact copy of a Megabass Vision, even down to the downward facing eyes and a crankbait called the Warthog that is a Wiggle Wart knock off, it rubs me the wrong way. Rick Clunn rubs me the wrong way too. Ok, Rant off......

I'm sure the baits are probably decent and about half the price of Lucky Crafts. They also have some good colors. I would personally go with XCaliburs or KVD's if I wanted a cheaper sq. bill.

I'm a Lucky Craft user, but I'll second the Strike King KVD 1.5's as they've produced for me when the L/C's don't get bit. I don't know about the Luck E Stike, they are relatively new and I haven't bought new cranks in a while (I've too many now). The other L/C lookalike I have used is Academy's H2O, some of them look like they came right out of a L/C mold and I've caught fish on them. They are about 1/3 the cost of a L/C.

The H20's are great baits, living near Academy, I have a ton of them. They are under $4, have great finishes and come with ok hooks. Now that you can buy them online, they are worth looking at too. My favorite sq bill besides the Lucky Craft would have to be the XCalibur XCS series. They come with good short shank hooks, good finishes, they run true and deflect well.

I own several of the Luck E Strike baits, IMHO, the Crankbaits are good, the jerkbaits are just OK and the Warthogs leak.

again just my opinion.

I agree with the comments about Lucky Craft baits and the Xcaliber crankbaits. I have several of both. Same for Strike King. The Strike King square bills are amoung my favorites! I thought maybe Luck E Strike was a subsidiary of Lucky Craft since they are so similar in looks as well as the name. Perhaps the same company, just a cheeper version. I wish Xcaliber woould market a rattling version though. Silent is the way to go sometimes, but rattling crankbaits usually perform better for me, especially when the water is discolored.
