Okechobee help
Alright guys it's that time again. The Fl Firefighter Olympics are starting up. They have chosen the Big "O" this year for the bass fishing event. Ive only been there twice. We are going out of Roland Martins again. Boats small, dont hit the big lake a lot unless it's calm. Ive heard the West Wall can be decent fishing and Uncle Joe's cut. Any of you S Florida boys that hit this lake regularly willing to throw out some spots. Got a decent map of the lake. I dont want to travel to far, and like I said the main lake gets to wild for my small boat. Pretty much anything in, on or close to the rim canal would be great. The tourney is April 26, 27, hoping to be there early the 25th to refamiliarize myself some w/ part of the south end.
Also been told the monkey box and gator hole (not sure if thats the right name?) are good but hard to reach. Not looking for all the secrets just general info on decent areas. If possible a rough estimate on travel time. I only run about 20-23 mph, so distance is a big concern for me. Thanks in advance for any help. Time for tourney first light til 300-330.

Try the rim canal, that's usually pretty good

I fished it last year, so no telling waht's going on down there now, nothing good I keep hearing. Are you allowed to trailer you boat? If so you can actually take the boat by road quickly to a launch close by the monkey box. I do know that a mojo-rigged senko, in junebug works great being dragged through the vegetation. Or of course the Paca Craw LOL. The way to work the mojo is to put the weight on, then tie a swivel. Then about a 8"-12" leader, and drag it through the weeds, don't hop it. That was the best technique for me down there anyways, and learned that from our Guide Art Ferguson III Clear water is usually the Key on Lake O, find the clear water, and the bass will be there. Another suggestion is to find out where they are setting up the shiner traps, I guarantee you there will be lots of big bass around those areas. I guess I'm not allowed to fish this one huh Lizards

Unfortunately I cant take you. Have to be a Professional FF. No I dont plan on breaking anything this trip(as I knock on the wooden table forty times). BPS did replace the broken rod, not a bad gig. Use it for a year break it, get a new one. Will check about the shiner traps. No, have to launch out of Martins fish camp where the basin is. Have heard from a few that the lake is pretty tore up from the hurricanes still. Actually said they found some trailers in the rim canal that are still there. Is that considered underwater structure or waterfront living????
