Default Couple of pics.

Went out with my GF and her brother this evening. It's been pretty sparse the last few days. We had a high pressure system move through and turn the bass off. However Carla caught her biggest bass, by far, and her brother, Kevin, caught his first bass ever!

Here are the pics...

The ole beetle spinning jig, can never go wrong with it. It catches big and small consistently. Especially in smaller ponds or lakes. (Of course I am not sure if I have ever used them on the big water but I am sure they work there as well) I am actually in love with the DVD series I got as a gift. http://www.glenlau.com < check it out. But anyhow the beetle is also his go too.

Well, they sure did, I didn't catch a thing...

Really though, seeing her catch that fish was all I needed. Sometimes It really is all about seeing that joy in a loved one's face!

BTW: She had been pullin' that worm through the water for a bit when i decided to give her a bit of instruction. Two casts later she caught that hog. That was a nice feeling for me too...

The girl has a firm grip on the tail while the guy looks like he is afraid to touch the “yucky” fish. What’s up with the gloves? Come on bleed and smell a little will ya!

Dude....a man with a woman who not only tolerates his fishing hobby, but actually enjoys sharing it, is a lucky man indeed. Or so I have heard....

Thanks for all the replies!

My GF wears the glove because she doesn't want the bass' teeth to rip up her thumb when it thrashes around. She has seen how mine gets all torn up. She must have told her brother to get gloves.

I sure am lucky though. She loves all kinds of fishing, and she'll bait her own hook!

My wife also fishes and loves it. I have seen her send a few guys packing and she loves every minute of it.

Ahh besides the pictures the only way to tell if you've really been catching fish is the bass thumb!!! Tell her to take pride in the bass thumb, a symbol of pride.

What an honor it is to take someone fishing and they catch their first bass. Last year I took my best friend fishing and he caught his first bass, I don't know who was more excited him or me!

Great pics! Thanks for sharing

Never suffered from Bass Thumb myself, in fact, i was convinced it's only a myth. Kinda like The Dog Man.
Then again though, after 18 years of roofing, my digits have become immune to that type of thing.

I'll pass that on, but I doubt it'll change her mind...

Thanks man!

I was there for both of their first basses. I was stoked for both, but I have to say when I saw Carla get her first it was a real thrill for me, and to see her get her biggest was a very close feeling. I was quite shocked when Kevin caught his. Neither of us expected him to get one with that beetlespin. I kept saying, I have never even caught a bass with a beetlespin!

Here is Carla's first bass...

I remember the first time I a bass bit me. I was about 15 and I had just pulled in a big one. My friend ran to get the scale, and the thing chomped down on my thumb while thrashing around. It was probably a 5lb fish, and my first big one. I was so shocked I dropped the fish and he flopped back into the water before I could get to him.

I don't wear gloves, my GF does.

When a big bass closes his mouth around your thumb, that is, mentally anyway, like a bite to someone that has never had it happen to them. I know a bass can't really "bite" you. Their teeth are nearly microscopic. Are you just trying to be offensive?
