Noisy and Pulsing Flukes....

I've long suggested cutting the tails off of Ultra Vibe Speedworms in watermelon/red at a point about a half inch up on the body of the worm and using the body for slow falling and deadsticking. This will leave you with the hook tails and a little of the body still attached. Now if you take a fluke, cutting off the fluke tail and welding the ultra vibe tail onto the fluke, you will have a buzztail fluke on the surface and underwater a tail that will throb when pulled a foot or so between pauses. A friend of mine has caught some nice bass, both buzzing and throbbing the bait at various times. It's easy to overwork the bait, so I'm thinking a couple buzzes and then some longer pauses between throbbing the bait occasionally on the fall. The color change from the pink or white fluke having the wat/red tail doesn't seem to bother the fish. If you try this and find it to work, please post your experiences. When welding, I turn the tail so it lays flat with the hook opening to one side or the other. On top, when buzzed gently, the body tilts a bit and may look a little wounded.

Hey Mac, I fuse the tail of an Ultra-Vibe Speed Worm to the body of an Assassin to make a topwater buzzer. It's a great lure and I use them instead of the Ribbit, Horny Toad-type lures. Except I cut off off the worm about 2-3/4"" from the top. Then I fuse two of the remaining worm bodies to make a Senko-like lure.

The picture should illustrate it pretty well.

I wonder if the assassin tails could be butted together to make a twitchy wacky worm......might have to put a section of worm body between them, maybe a half inch or so.

why don't you make a mold and pour your own baits. Its very easy to do it. Would be something to make you a few extra bucks on your home waters.

DJ, I use an electric pencil soldering iron...under 5 bucks at Wal Mart Automotive Dept.

Melt the two surfaces to be joined at the same time on each side of the fat barrel near the tip piece.

I know it has been mentioned before, but I need to point it out again. If you are going to fuse your plastics, make sure that you have good ventilation. For fusing a couple of plastics, I don't think that you need to build an exaust system, but don't go doing it in the garage with the doors closed. One other thing to point out. Melting plastic is darn hot and sticks to your flesh like napalm.

Charlies' Twitchin Shad is the same idea, a fluke style lure that you rig weightless but it has a grub type tail. Good looking lure in the water. Might be hard to find outside of Florida.

WTL, i think assassin makes a saltwater version with a tail similar to the one you show....the knob tail. Think i have some i picked up in Florida several years ago...

rambler1141, you found a very similar bait. The only difference is that the tail hook looks to be thinner on an ultra vibe speedworm and being mounted sideways to the body will react differently in that it will tip a bit....but overall, you are correct, it's another type of hooktail bait and looks to be a winner also. Also, the producto spring worm (4 inch) in motor oil/red glitter is an excellent dropshot worm.
