Default Mattern Guide Service on Lake Palestine

Mattern Guide Service on Lake Palestine

Hello Everybody,

Psalm 103; Verses 1-3: Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name. Bless the Lord O my soul and forget not all His benefits. Who forgiveth all thine iniquities, who healeth all thy diseases:

I can truly say that for I just went through one if not the most trials of my 53 years. I was comming back from a Media Bass tourney on Saturday 12-13 days ago and stopped to fill up on the way home when my right leg was going numb on me and severe pain was occurring in my hip and knee on my right leg.

I made it home then collaspe on the way into the house and was bed bound for some 12 days with some of the most horrendous pain I have ever felt. I have Pastored Hillcrest World Harvest Church in Palestine, Texas for some 13 years and have been in over twenty different countries of the world preaching the Gospel of Jesus so I thought I knew what real faith was but I learned that faith is believing through your trial all the way through it even if it means not seeing any results for days weeks even like Job when He was tried was found faithfull to believe His God.

The Church fasted for me and thank all of you that called and prayed for me. This week I felt a cold as ice feeling go through my hip and through my toes and the pain left. Praise be to Jesus.

Today I was up and changing lines on reels and booking trips for June and making tournament arrangements. God is good. Faith in Jesus can make the impossible happen.

Well the Lake is in great shape for the Memorial Day Week-end. My sources and from my last tourney reveal Bass are moving up into shallows early for a great topwater bite. Bass up to 7 Lbs. being reported.

Good choices for topwaters are Buzzbaits in White or Chartruse or combos working well fished through flooded vegetation. Poppers caught up to 5 lbs. blue or black backs with shad bellies like pearl or chrome have been working till it gets hot.

Spinnerbaits in same colors as buzzbaits have been catching well all day worked around 2-4 feet cover such as brush, grasses, or wood. The horizontal baits or reaction type baits have been outfishing plastics but as it gets hot the plastics will get the nod soon. Water temps are in the mid to upper 70\\\'s and The North is stained a little but because of being so full it has not effected the bite as I can tell.

Have a great Memorial day week-end and be safe. If you want to book for June or July just call 903-478-2633 or 903-724-1203. Thanks ansd God Bless. Don Mattern Sr. with Mattern Guide Service

I'm glad that you are feeling better. And you are right, God is good all the time. The mother of our worship team director was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She has been taking medicine and we have been praying for her. Last week she went to a different doctor (than the one that diagnosed her) for a check-up, and he said that he didn't believe that she had the disease. He didn't know why they said she did. He didn't see anything wrong with her, but just to be sure he is going to keep her on the medicine. She goes back in a couple weeks to get checked again and if she is still ok he said he is going to take her off the medication. Like I said before, GOD is good, all the time.
