Trying a cheaper idea to get the action of a swimbait on an older bait

I bought some MS Mini Slammers, too expensive, sold them right away, I am really trying to stay as CHEAP as possible

So I took a 5/8 jitterbug and put an owner centerpin on the rear hook hanger and put the better part of a trick worm behind it, cast a few times in the ol lady's pool, before it was covered. The center pin was not working, I just got some Hitchikers ( small wire screw, from Barlows) cant wait for spring, it will probably be very similar to the action I am looking for, now if it workd ther is a 19.00 in lures!

Muddy I like the thinking on this..I was looking for some decent,smaller swimbaits yesterday with no luck (in my price range)...I go to Barlows once a week,let me know how those Hitchikers work.

My concern is that the Jitterbug moves more water at the nose section , just by the nature of the lip.The worm tail on either looks the same in the water. The Owner center pin was too heavy a guage of wire and I think with the Hitchhiker I will be able to attach the worm tail and the treble hook in the rear

That hitchiker looks like a sure bet for attaching to split rings..It says it can be used on jigs/spinnerbaits for trailers...hmmm,seems like it could slide off the hook though..I sure its rare,but I wanna see them in person.
Speaking of swimming baits,Ive been wanting to experiment with my crankbaits.Im gonna remove the back hook and replace it barrel swivel and large colorado s blade..See if I cant create some live action...Could be a bad idea,but well see.

I think he was talking about the rear of the bait not up front by the bill. I have seen a few attempts at this

Yea I played around with it last night...Something like this...I replaced the front treble with a wider one....I saw something similar on a smaller spinner.
I dont know if its really a good idea....But Im gonna sling it later on my lunch for fun

Keep thinking! Any idea is good and sometimes a mistake is more important than you think, as it will lead to the better idea.

There is an older lead bait, by MANN"S called the Little Geprge, that uses a barrell swivel to conned the blade to the back of the lure, maybe this will give you more movement and flash, just a thought

I don't think I'd remove the rear treble from my crankbaits - better than half my crankbait (excluding lipless baits) fish are caught on the back treble.

Thats my concern with it as well....Im thinking of trying to add like a single hook trailer...I dunno,Ill mess with it.

Not gonna work waffle.

You need to get a swivvle on there for the blade to spin, otherwise it'll just kinda quiver there.

I dont want it to spin,just move side to side.....so I took the swivel off

Most of my hook ups with crajnks come on the middle set of trebles, not all but most. The rear trebles seem to snag the hooked fish futher down the body or on the gill plates/
