Default Something you my wanna do next time you're worming.

So yesterday I was fishing, and with the cold temps the last week or so, I decided that it would be best if I did some worming. Fist I started off with the standard texas rig with a black/red fleck worm, 2/0 hook, 3/16 oz bullet weight with a sink stopper.

I fished that rig about a half hour with no fish, but I was getting what I though to do fish just nugging the bait, not really eating it. So rather than changing completely, I took a little read bead, and put it right above the bullet weight and, with the sinker stopper (red), about a half inch above the bead. Fist cast, I shook the rod tip a little to get the bead to clack, BAM! started catching fish! To check if it was really the bead catching the fish, I took it off and started fishing, no fish! I put it back on, more fish!

~~~~~~~
Lesson learned! When the fish are nugging the bait, they're telling you you're doing on the right track, but not 100%. So try thing out side the box and make supple changed to you presentation, rather than changing it completely (like my case, rather than changing to a spinnerbait, I just added a bead).
I do something similar on my T-rigs...I put a red glass bead between the hook and bullet weight for some clacking-action...I havent notice a difference in fish though, to be honest.
Its funny how those little mods can change everything
I do something similar as well. I will use two glass beads instead of a bullet weight. I usually do this when working the edges of heavy cover.
If I am doing a bead with weight , I put a Eagle Claw rubber bobber stop up about a 1/8" above where I want the weight to sit , add the weight and then the bead. This will allow the weight to clack the bead without going to far up the line.
Lancer6 does something similar. He pegs the bead and lets a tungsten weight bang against it. He does real well with it.
I use tungsten and put the bead between my hook and weight, with about an inch between the weight and sinker stopper. A friend of my dad's told me it was the hot thing out west about 10 years ago (15 now) and they called it brass and glass. Works great on days when the fish just need that extra little bit of noise to trip their trigger. I have found that for me it slows down the bite on bluebird days though, maybe its a shine thing, but I think that bluebird sky calls for no rattles in my cranks as well. That could very well be just a confidence issue though.
Bassboss, I assume it was a glass bead?
I still do the old brass and glass technique when the fish are aggressive, with 2 beads usually. Old school. It's also my fav follow up bait when you miss a strike with a search lure.
I was fishing these things Shakey-style before I ever heard of "Shakey-style." haha
