first cast jinx - picture
I've heard people say never catch a fish on your first cast... Junior and I hit the water a little before 6AM and my first cast of the day was a Pop-r along the weeds in some very shallow water. Monster blow up! Here is what I landed.
Fished for another 4 hours missed a couple of hook ups and Jr. landed one around 3lbs.. Not a great day, but jinxed, you decide.

Nice fish! I hate the first cast jinx!
p.s. is it just me, or does he look a little like KVD?

On the subject at hand, if you actually believe in the jinx (the only one I believe in is the curse of Bobby Layne), then throw out something totally stoopid on the first cast. Like a piece of celery with Rosie O'Donnel's autograph on it

But we were bass fishin' and juniors fish was a bass... This one large pond we fish turns up the occasional pike. A year ago junior pulled one much bigger than this....

yeah... it has held true for me the two times i have caught on a first cast. Ever since, my first cast is usually a little 5 foot throwaway cast

Such an item would to too valuable to risk. Autograph value is determined by rarity. There is no way to properly calculate the rarity of a food item that has been handled by Rosie Odonnel and returned uneaten, in fact, such an item likely does not exist.

I wasn't totally jinxed this past weekend. First cast caught a 9 3/4, biggest ever weighed to date, ended up catching about twenty between me and a friend. Thought we were going to have a big fish day, but the rest were 1-2 lbs, had blast anyways.
