something to think about
ever notice the bassmaster classic seems to be won in a currant area? i am not saying the last-2005- classic was a slack water are. but think back aways 98 was won in the yadkin river -above the I 85 bridge-on high rock lake. lake wylie was won in the river-2004- i know the delta classic -mike ike winning- was in the byou-not sure about the cuurent. and these are just the ones off the top of my head. i do know that the wylie an highrock river section has some things in common. both are hazardous to navigate. there for they don't get the heavy fishing pressure the rest of the lake receives. does this seemodd to the rest of you?

Not really-in these big power generating lakes the fish know the current will move baitfish, and the river will have more current simply because of the narrow confines. In addition, as you say, it is hazardous to run so less people are willing to risk running it. Besides, look whe the Classic has been held. July and August are typically two of the hottest months, so the current adds oxygen and probably cooler water temps.

Yes, flowing water will be cooler than still water, and also be more oxygenated. I don't find it odd because I believe it to be fairly evident that if you can find pockets in soft current, you'll catch fish in one of em at least. I'm not much of a river fisherman, only very rarely do I go to the river, but if and when i do, i try to catch overhangs that break the flow of the current and laydowns that create ebbs in the flow.
on second thought, i don't know what relation this has to the thread, HAH |

I think it is due to Oxygen in the moving water also is why they are won in current areas. The classic this year is going to be held in the spring right?
