Default Fishing Bad for Health ?

I dont know if anyone else is thinking about this , but maybe the california warnings on fishing products arent bulls#!tting. Just saying that recently with peoples health problems on here alone , maybe there is something to it....

I don't think that is it. Obviously skin cancer is a major problem, but I dont think we are exposed to lead in a way a regular joe isn't (think about lead solder, think about asbestos, think about oil - all those are carcinogens)...

This board is just having a terrible run. I cant remember a situation like this occurring previously, and its all hit at once.

Either that or God is assembling one heck of a bass fishing team.

If you take a large enough cross section of any group you will find health problems. I don't think it can attributed to fishing.

I don't think it can be attributed to fishing either.

I think sickness and death seems to run it streaks. For example, hardly anyone we knew died last summer or fall, but we went to 4-5 funerals in about a month and a half during the winter.

I have had to not go fishinhg in the lat coupe of days, because of the heat. I am 60 years old, and I just do not feel safe, going out alone on the boat in weather like this,

Life is dangerous...after all, it can only end in death!
It would defy logic to suggest that any single, non destructive activity would negatively impact ones heath. The least of these are wholesome outdoor activities. Oh sure, too much sun may lead to skin cancer, too much heat could lead to sun stroke, heck, too much water could lead to drowning!

I'm convinced that fishing is more helpful than harmful.

AMEN, Abbeysdad!
If one thing doesn't kill us, something else will, and if I die with a fishing rod in my hand, I'll die happy.

I get sort of amused that one segment of our population seems to believe that we can all live forever, providing the government, the medical community, and other groups will just protect us from everything. It was never intended to be that way, so why not just enjoy the time we have left and not fret about it.

I can personally attest to the therapeutic benefits of fishing. Even my co-workers' lives have benefitted from me fishing a lot. It keeps me from killing them.

Same here. When people at work ask me why I fish so much I tell them that fishing on my days off is the only reason half of them are still here (joking of course.......well sort of joking lol).

Cmorg I see where you are coming from but I honestly just think it's what WTL said, it's just a run of bad luck around here lately. And it seems that bad things happen in groups of 3 so everyone be careful.

Funny no fear. The thing that scares me if I die and no one finds me for a while. I only have one sister who lives close by and we talk a lot but sometimes not for a week or so. Maybe work would figure something is wrong if I don't show up for a couple of days with no calls. So for now fishing is keeping me going.

But not from hiring someone else to kill them. I know how you work, sir.
