alright i am either gonna buy one of these 3 reels, the reels are the Abu Garcia Revo sx, Abu Garcia Revo stx, and the Shimano Curado 200E, i would like any views or opinions on these reels because i am sure that some of you have used these reels

I think it comes down to personal preference. I bought a Revo SX amd sold it because I had trouble with backlashes that just randomly occurred. I think it was just that reel since a lot of guys have them and like them. I have some a 200E and a 201E and plan to get more Curados. My only complaint would be that the drag is a little week, I like to lock it down. I really, really like this reel overall and really prefer centrifugal brakes over magnetic. My old partner has an STX and I used it a little and liked it too.

I suggest you go to a store and mount them on a rod and see which feels better in your hand. I don't think you'll be disappointed with any of them.

Revos are the only reels that I use. In fact my crankbait rods all have Revo Winch's on them but other than that all of my other rods have a Revo sx on them. The sx is a great reel and I am yet to have a bad experience with them. I have used a few of the stx reels in the past when fishing with a few buddies that have them and to be perfectly honest I prefer the sx. No real educated reason for me liking the sx better other than it's a preference deal and the sx just seems to perform better for me, or at least as good. Both are great reels, I just don't think you really gain much if anything with the stx over the sx.

I have the SX and I really like it. It is a little temperamental, but day in and day out it is smooth and dependable. My fishing buddy has the Shimano Curado 200E and he spends a lot more time making adjustments on that thing than I do on my SX. I can't speak for the STX.

I'm a Revo guy myself, though I do own a couple of Daiwas and a Pflueger as well. I think you can't go wrong with the Revo SX or STX. Like C-Rig says, there isn't much difference in the two. They both have high bearing counts for a really smooth retrieve. The only real difference would be the STX has the disengaging spool, which theoretically will help a bit more in long distance casting and windy conditions. Theoretically. Usually, the skill and wisdom of the angler are just as important as a mechanical advantage.

If I were you, I would shop ebay for these two reels. Ironically, the SX, while having a lower MSRP, 99% of the time sells for more on ebay. I think it's because it looks so much better. Black and red is HAWT.

The Curado is a nice reel, but it only comes in a 5.1:1 and a 7.1:1 gear ratio, making it a little more technique specific reel. The revo SX and STX both come in a 6.4:1 and 7.1:1 gear ratio, with the 6.4:1 covering a little more general purpose type application. The Revos are both great reels, and alot of the differences have already been discussed, the only other differences that I can think of are that the STX has a dual braking system, a titanium nitride wormshaft and has a lighter spool than the SX. I believe the STX is a little better at casting lighter weight baits, and for only 30 dollars more I think it is the better deal.

I have the older model stx hs and had a sx. Traded the sx for a rod. Can't say much about the newer models though. I do have a curado 5.1:1 but haven't used it much to make a comment. I don't think you would make a mistake with either a revo or a curado.

Are you considering any Daiwa reels?

You can pick up a Daiwa Viento at Tackle Warehouse for $120. I have one and it's a great reel, especially for that price.

Of the ones you listed, I'd go with the Abu solely because I hate the feel of the Citica/Curado. However, they should be on par with each other performance wise.

I have several casting reels and 3 of them are Revos. And believe me, I'd never even think of giving one up. I love my Revos. I compared them to the Curado, but to me, the Revo just felt more solid and smooth operating. Felt better on a rod to me as well. But thats just me.

First let me say I've never fished a Curado just tried them out in a store....that said though I have fished Revos and found them to be a great reel....in looking at the specs I would go with either of the Revos based on the drag systems and I like the ergonomics of the Revos better.

Of those two, I've only fished one of them. I'm a Shimano and BPS reel fan. I refuse to buy any Abu products after all the bull I went through years ago with their EON line. I know, I know that's all changed supposedly - but, just can't get myself to buy from a company that ripped me off.

Daiwa has become my reel of choice here lately, although the Revos aren't far behind.

Personally, I like the way Daiwa's perform, look, and feel in hand. I've never held a reel more comfortable than the Daiwa Zillion.

However, Daiwa has more specialty reels. And what I meant by that is not all of there reels are good all around reels. An example is the Daiwa Fuego definitely not known for its ability to cast light lure. But at the same price point, Daiwa designed the Sol specifically for casting lighter lures. (kind of a bad example as those two reels are discontinued and not available/hard to find now, lol)

I too prefer the palming of revo...I own the SX,My only (and I mean only) compliant is that the spool tension knob seems awfully tight for as fast as the lure falls when engaging the thumb bar...Ive been considering taking it in for a check up..Just doesnt seem right.

Never fished the STX or Curado...Everytime I see a Curado,I wanna pull out the legs and arms and add them to the rest of my ninja turtles.
