99% of the time I use a Zoom 4 3/4 inch Finesse worm in Green Pumpkin, Watermelon/black flake, or Junebug.

is there a huge difference in the length between the shorter and the longer or is it more for action?

I started using it about 2 years ago with a 4" Zoom curly tail and 4" lizard. But I just bought some 6" roboworms and I can't wait to try them out. But I got them mainly for shakey headin'.

4" Strike King 3X finesse worm... the bait will stand up and go vertical in the middle of the water column.

I save my larger worms (up to 10 inches) for bottom bouncing.

Robos are awesome both the 4.5" and the ones that are just a little longer. Matter of fact, there aren't many baits you couldn't work on a drop shot. Keep an open mind since there is no law that says it has to be a worm.
Panic Minnows, Sniper Snubs, Reaction Innovations worm (forgot the name) and even baby brush hogs and tubes. Think out of the box.

guys, tell me what you think about this . you hook on a zoom watermellon meathead 4" for your dropshot bait, then at the bottom where the weight is suppose to be you tye on a lucky E strike bass magic shakey head jig with a zoom fluke tail goby in alabama craw color. this could work good in grass or rock and gravel. ill be testing this out this sat. in sharron harris lake,nc. lot of bass in that small lake. so what do you think? catbird

I like Yamamoto 4" cut tail worms. Reaction Innovation worm is the TRIXIE, I use that one also. You can also use a finesse jig for the weight with a small trailer.

First off, don't limit your dropshotting to worms. I also like Flukes, Tiny flukes (the smallest ones) and the tiny brushogs.
but for worms: Zoom swamp crawlers, 4" power worms, powerbait shaky worms, zoom finesse worms, I also like Chompers 4" DS worm. BB

roboworm straight tail worms are also very popular, but I haven't tried them yet.

The Roboworms are hard to beat, and the Zoom finesse worms seem to work well also. As BigBassin144 said be sure not to limit yourself to worms though. 95% of the time I am drop shotting one of my goby baits even on lakes where there are no gobies. I think the pulsating action of the soft and fat tail that suspends really makes the difference. Here's a recent article about drop shotting gobies on waters where they are not found:
http://www.fishingclub.com/Projects/...aspx?id=146796 I really want to try that Zulu or double fluke rig dropshotting this spring too. |

I bought some gobies a while back and fished with them in some ponds and had pretty good luck on them fishing them like an unweighted fluke. I have never seen or heard of a goby in southern Miss. I might have to try them on a drop shot next time though. They haven't outfished the fluke, but they still have their time and place.

If throwing worms I stick with Robo. I actually DS the 2 and 3 inch bass assasins and tiny flukes more than worms.

I hardly ever use drop shots.
But a ribbon worms looks very good!

I used the Jackall Flick Shake worms last year on my dropshots and they worked very well...near the end of the season I started using the dropshot rig in the river and more shallow areas with a great deal of success

Zoom's C-tail worm is neatly flexible....also Brewer's 4 inch slider worm.

I like that idea so I'm going to give it a try this afternoon. I'll use a Zoom finesse worm 24" above a texas rigged Zoom trick worm. Is there anything in the fishing rules to say you can't fish using two worms?

No, that's perfectly fine, Jack....or is this Doreen? People often use 2-3 flukes rigged on the same line, also.

thats fine bassinbrits, use any bait you like that would work good with this setup. instead of using adrop shot weight , replace it with some kind of shakey head jig with what ever bait you would like, and shake the baits in place.
