One time Maine got hit by a really bad ice storm and most of the state lost power for 1-2 weeks. School was cancelled for two weeks.

Couldn't do anything inside, but man was that some great speed sledding.

JB, this is one of those winter events that are extremely rare here. Here is what I have hanging off my roof-icicles a foot long-I've NEVER seen them this long before-here, anyway:

reb,
I'll get you a pic of the ice cycles here at work, some are 70 feet long
(the leak out of the downspout on the corner of the building)
when It finally warms up in march you'll see 20 ft sections fall off at a time...enough weight to kill ya!
On a sunny day icycles can reflect light like a prism, its pretty cool.

Robby, you can have it back if you want it !

Adam, we had some pretty good rains before Zilla left the freezer door open and Flyrod and I are hoping it brought our local lake up a little-it's so low only a couple of ramps are open.

6 inches of snow isn't supposed to delay school in the north... it's called snowplows and salt

I have heard stories of (ill use the CP term) Northerners(grandpa just rolled over in his grave) crying and complaining of the cold on duck/deer hunts down here mainly because of the humidity envolved with our environment. Its not a "dry" cold. The stuff sticks to you, and when do the ducks fly-Misting Rain- not a coincidence.

REB How you guys doing with the thaw out? Im 'bout ready to head that way for some 'lupes on the 5 weight, hopefully by March.

I know Sluggo, I just wanted to show the southerners that 1/2 inch of snow isn't something that will bring life to a grinding halt. Hell, the streets were not plowed until wednesday and everything went just as well.
