Default went sunnyfishing (need a fish I.D.ed)

went out today with a few friends, catch some sunfish atone of their grandma's retirement home lake. Supposedly there are cats, i want to catch those tomorrow. Well, The polly-o stick cheese bite was up today, they were hammering it. After my stupid doofus of a friend ate our cheese by accident, we had to bring out the muffins and bread. The wendy's chicken didn't do too bad, but it fell off the hooks. Btw, here is the doofus:

Although tomorrow, he is getting us a ride to assunpink, a great lake.
So, here is a nice sized one i caught

Pretty nice for one of those. Then, I got this fish:

And my other friend looks dumb as a rock... I think he was trying to be funny.

a decent day.

yeah, I'm pretty confused. White carp or perch... Btw, that's 17 pound test. sunfish are so stupid they don't care what test. they even bite bare hooks. Think i should lower it? i figured you know what i want someting that would just bring em straight out of the water.

I know, but i didn't think it mattered much. I mean i caught a total of 67. I grabbed a random spol of line, some sticks, hooks, cheese, snacks and left. Think i should downgrade to 6?

aww so I have to buy stuff? See the kid in the last pic? would a rod like that do? I mean, i even have a video of me catching one of these fish on my stick and 17 pound test combo. i leterally dunk it in, pull it out, and there is a fish. Don't see how a trout rod would be better.

you dont have to buy stuff..just use a small rod and light line..and whatever bait you want..im just suggesting what would be good...if you dont see how an actual fishing rod would be better than a stick, then theres something wrong lol

Im sorry I didn't know you meant the other one, yeah a carp. And that 17lb. test is probably part of the reason you have those 2" babies.

Doc, Its a common minnow found in our area.It is a golden shiner, but most bait shops sell them as silver shiners, because when they are young, the golden shiners are silver in color, then they turn gold in color as they age.I hope this helps you. P N J http://www.dec.state.ny.us/website/d...l#goldenshiner

Hey cranky you might want to throw some sun screen on you looking a little more tanned than usual. Try keeping in the shade and drinking more water! lol J/K

cranky, go with 4-6 lb for bluegills and try red worms or better yet waxworm (bee larva), here in ohio the farm ponds give up huge gills like this

My son loves to catch those things. Here are a couple of pics from a pond that I take him to. This pond is amazing when it comes to catching bluegills. No sooner than the bait hits the water they are gone with it and they aren't small either. It is average to pull a one pounder out of there.

PNJ nailed it. It's a shiner. Hook him through the lips and toss him back out, something will eat him.
