Default I don't like Ike!

Looks like Ike may put a bullseye on the central Texas coast, which means we may have a real problem here on Saturday. Hurricane force winds will rip San Antonio a new one. Not good if it moves through here.

I live a short spit away from The Love Nest wherein Reb and The Mrs dwell. My little hovel is in an area not prone to flooding BUT my condo is on the second story. I always sweat roof damage, leaks, and, of course, tornados.
I keep two cat carriers on standby in case I decide to make a run for it.
Can't leave >^..^< Winchester and >^..^< Miss Monicat Meowinsky behind.
I'll have my meds, my pictures of my late love, and a few other items to hand, ready to go.
In a way, I'm glad that it will probably miss S. La and Mississippi.

Grab your new wife and tackle and head up to these parts Reb. I'm sure JB woould love to get you out on Brookville. And I've got a few small bodies of water to play with. Good luck and get the heck outta there if it's gonna get bad.

Stay safe. Not wishing bad upon any body but Im sure glad these are leaving us alone. We still got peoples front porches w/ diving boards mounted on them. When you see a NO WAKE sign on Main street that is a problem. Again, not wishing bad on anybody else, just thanking God we dodged a big bullet.

board up the windows, get to higher ground (if you're in a low lieing area), and get lots of beer. if you run outta beer before or during the storm, go get some more. that was teh problem while we were waiting on T.S. Fay. She was such a slow moving storm, we ran outta beer 4 times before she actually got here. Course it was more rain than anything, Ike looks to be the complete opposite, less rain, more wind. Good luck.

Robs right guys, you have to take this seriously. If you run out of beer, it means you gotta go out and get more. Nobody wants yall to do that....its dangerous.

So think! People. Be responsible. Be prepared. Kegs. Get several. And be damn sure that you've knocked out a few already before landfall - that way the keg will float when your building floods - a keg can double as a life bouy in an emergency.

dont know if you guys have seen it on TV yet but the water from the intercoastal washed up on 332 going to surfside and there is literally no way out. We headed about 45 miles inland and were getting winds here at 45mph gusts or so. Be a long time before we see any wadefishing or anything.

There was homes flooding in Galveston 24 hours before the storm hit. In Padre Island, largest undeveloped barrier island in the world, there was already water to the dunes, but no more after that. Where the dunes had a cut in them for a road the water would rush in and flood that area. Galveston is lined with condos and the fake help of a seawall. Just goes to show you how crucial it is for developers NOT to build on precious beachfront.

Adam I know your up there near the bad parts, hope its ok. Luckily port aransas dodged the bullet.
