Default Tryin out

Im gonna try out for the JV baseball team friday. Wish me luck. Its gonna be hard to make the team considering im a freshman and there are going to be a lot of people I have played with and are really good. I consider myself a great ball player but it gonna be tough. Maybe having a 628 average in State will help my chances a little. And considering that I hit a bomb right in front of the JV coach who was umping the game for the city I was playing for might help my chances. The fence is 15 foot high and 375 feet to the fence from home plate. I hit the fence half way up which on a regular sized (height) fence would have been a gonner. Any ball fan knows that is a gonner in a proffesional sized feild and I am only 14. Again wish me luck. Thee is a lot of competition this year............

That's good. I was in the NABF world Series in Jackson and this one team we played had 6 guys that already were drafted one of them 14th draft pick. I was 2 for 6 there with two k's ouch.

Man I thought about trying out this year but I havent played ball in a couple of years. I figured if I was the best catcher in my little league why not. But I decided not to attempt and risk the humiliation that might occur.

Dyas you need to play at a higher level than what you are playing. I struck out only 8 times in 200 at bats this summer and twice in highschool. If you don't sometime you are not playing high enough. Those guys playing there were like pro's they looked exactly like pro ball players and the were all 19 and Dominican. It was also wood bat.

Your right I do need to play at a higher level. But in the past I played for fun but now I will start being sereious and stop mesing around at practice lol. I got 1 month until Fall Evaluation and I need to get my arm back to what it needs to be. Gonna long toss every day and hit the batting cages a few times. Probably do sprints everyday to. Im gonna be ready for it lol.

Make sure when you exercise your arm that you don't start working too hard, too quickly, because you could get tendonitis which won't go away until you rest for about a week. Just build your way up.

Now, I've heard of baseball as a spring sport... but fall? lol

Good luck man. Hitting it off of a 375 ft wall is pretty cool.

Sounded good to lol........ Yeah I got tendenitis 2 years ago cause I was late for a game and my coach wouldnt give me enough time to warm up and I had to start. I learned after that. I start out at about 20 feet than work my way up to about 150 feet long tossing. Fall evaluation is where the practice you for a week and then make the cuts I think. The actual season dont start until the spring.

I start out at 20 feet and move to 250 feet with my arm. A bunch of pitchers on my team can throw from 400 ft in center to the pitchers mound on a fly. My arm isn't as good as it use to be for my age. lol. The fartest homerun I have ever hit went 410 feet to left center at 15 years old. I haven't hit one over the fence in a while in a game. In batting practice I take a bunch out but I am a line drive hitter.Other night I was 2 for 5 with a triple and a single. This is wood bat.

I have to warm up slow or my arm gets to hurtin real easy. Takes me about 25 minutes or so. My farthest throw was last year. A kid hit one over my head in center ans I made the throw from 50 feet off the fence to a 1 hop to the catcher. Thats about 300 feet. Unfortunatly he was safe. The catcher dropped the ball as he went to tag him.

I'm a nasty slice hitter sometimes. But I'm also a righty, so this means they can just put the shift on me.

Not that I play baseball as a sport, I'd be awful, especially at hitting. One high school near me had a kid who was throwing fastballs at 90-95 mph. He's currently playing A ball for the Brewers.
