Default finding key struture

any given lake has tons of differant struture on it. that is scattered over 10's of thousands of acres in most cases.. i just returned from my good friends-river rat- house on tillery. we spent the mid morning to afternoon doing a boat ride. his dock is one of the very few with water under it right now. i have a bunch of struture pictures and a ton of gps way points marked..

this dock is one of my favorites on the lake normally the water is 8 feet deep on the deep side.

one of my favorite places to crank or carolina rig on this lake.

the main launch at 24/27 is a tad dry.. hmmm yep just a tad..
it is about 10 feet deep right out in the middle here 15 something under the bridge..

what i do is fish the areas i have way pointed on the gps several times in differant times during year. if i find one that just won't do it for me i delete it and move on..i will whittle the hundred or so way points down to 10-12 that work consistantly..

still scratching my head over what held a big fish i caugfht several years ago. in lower richland creek..it is as bare as any thing i have seen..

It sucks that the river is that low but it is cool that you can see all the structure that you have fished before. There are some spots in my hometown lake that i would love to actually see what is on the bottom.

Zook, could it have been holding on the channel? If not, maybe there was some wood there that has since washed away - things change under the surface from time to time.

But good post and great subject for other anglers trying to improve. I have a spot on wheeler lake that I had driven over for years without fishing, its the I65 bridge going over the river and in winter when its down I always noticed a little channel with rocks next to some buckbrush. It resulted in some decent fishing about a month ago.

Was that a planned drawdown? Almost wish they would do that to the Stick Marsh. Only problem you wouldn't be able to get out to look at anything.

Looks like last year, we spent the winter at the Eno River learning all we could. As many pics as I take, I never even thought about it

On The Last Picture I Back In The Corner Where It Drops Off Quick You Should Build Some Structure. That Looks Like A Nice Place With No Cover.

Good Point Lol I See The Rocks Now. There Is A Spot Like That On The Lake That I Fish Tourneys In Everytime You Go There You Think This Is A Perfect Place But It Justs Gets Hammered. People Park There Cars And Sit There All Day Fishing From The Bank.
