Default My Luck

It figures . . . I planned a weekend of fishing with one of my old high school friends. Somehow, neither of us were scheduled for anything this weekend (we had to make these plans in February), so it was agreed that we would do opening day for trout and a day-and-a-half of bass fishing.

The problem is that the weather service is saying that it will be in the 40s on Saturday and raining. My luck sucks . . . I can never plan my fishing for a weekend that doesn't involve rain, the cold, or both.

Anyway, I just wanted to vent. No matter what, I am going fishing even if it snows.

Wishin', just go fishin'. It doesn't matter whether it rains or snows. Geez, just do it. The last tourney I fished with my club it rained on and off all day. There have been times when I just pack up and go no matter what. Rain or shine, that is what makes you a fisherman.

I agree, I will quit my whining and just go fishing. I am just hoping that the cold front doesn't give the fish lock jaw and shut down the action.

JB, I am thinking that this may be a good time to give the Rogue a try.

Don't let bad weather stop ya from going , its a learning experience, plus less pressure on the waters with fewer anglers out there.

JB, any thoughts on throwing the Rogue. I gotta' bunch of suspending Rogues in different colors and sizes. They weatherman is predicting high 40's and rain (of course Friday and Sunday will be in the 60s).

Deacon, regarding your reference to "man panties" . . . I got them on.

Actually, doesn't the phrase go "take off the panties" . . . if so, then my panties are off. My point is that come hell or high water, I will go fishing on Saturday (and hopefully catch some too).

Always start out with the ol fav rogue, the black back, silver sides, with or without orange belly.
cast it out and make several pulls of the rod, let it set for a good 15 count, then start the cadense of jerk, jerk pause, jerk. Its hard, but you can't fish a rogue too slow.
Personally, I like the smaller size rogues, but that is a minority around here they throw the big un'. clown rogue in clear water, I have a fav that is muskie color. it looks like a crappie to me, also have teal and chrome sided one that is another fav....really about any ratLtrap color that you like, works in rogue, but black n silver produces the most...I've been throwing them every year since about 96...before that I was using bagleys bang o lure .

Jb, thanks for the pointers on "rogue-in". Jerk, jerk, pause, jerk . . . I am practicing at my desk as I type this. God, I can't wait to get out on the lake.

I thought that saying was "Don't get your panties in a bunch". I don't know what man panties are.

Just for the record, I hiked up my man panties and went fishing this weekend in the rain, snow, and sleet. Still caught some . . .
