Default Evinrude gone to 5yr warranty

They finally seem to be catching up to Merc. Wonder if Yamaha is following suit?

They had better. Folks are probably going to hang on to their boats longer with the current economic situation.

Some dealers include the extra 2 yrs as a sales enhancer. Some dealers only "offer" the extra 2 yrs. Apparently, based on the link, it was not standard with the motors like it is now.

Nope,My 5 years is straight from evinrude, it was the same deal they are running now. Read the page, its only good till Sept.

"On Monday we received an urgent press release from the folks at Evinrude telling us that from now until Sept 6, 2010 they will be extending their factory warranty from its normal 3-year term to five years"

Well this is good for those (like me) who dont liek 4 strokes anyway. With the government steppin in and killin all 2-stokes i would be glad to have that long a warranty on a new outboard.

The Yamaha SHO is a 2-stroke killer, a 4-stroke game changer! That platform is revolutionizing the outboard industry. Just a matter of time before Merc and Rude offer something similar.

I believe your are CORRECT! Just a matter of copying the good stuff from Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki. Anyone notice a trend here on who is advancing the market of outboards. Yep, Japan.
