Where to put better fishfinder: troll or transom?
Just got a boat with an older fishfinder on it. Wondering if I should put my better, higher resolution fishfinder on the bow mount troll or should I put it on transom to use while motoring and looking for spots. Suppose it might depend on whether I'm deep or shallow water fishing? Thanks.

I am going thru the same dilemma with a used Ranger I just purchased. I would rather have the transducer mounted on the troller with the screen mounted up front, however, I would rather mount the transducer on the transom and keep the screen up front by the troller so that I can ALWAYS have the transducer in the water; even when using the Outboard. I just hope my eyes are good enough to read the screen up front from the drivers seat. LOL

i have the better one next to the steering. reason is i can idle if i want and really see what is there. the front finder is mostly for depth range and seeing the grassline, etc. choice is up to you.

My first choice would be to mount the graph near the console.
Most graphs can be rotated so that when your up front you can look back to view. Then eventually you'll add one to the bow. |

I have to agree, I have a humminbird 997c SI unit at the console with a swivel so I can spin it around when I'm on the deck...on my deck I have an ancient lowrance X65, because all I need to know is depth and the if I want to know more I just look behind me
