Default Some Jigs

Opened my tackle bag Sunday to get the most crawfish looking jig I had, was fishing a lake where the fish tend to spit crawfish out in your livewell, and I only had about 5 in there...oops! Mostly green pumpkin varients, and a pumpkin/blue, which I chose. Anyway, I grabbed some finished heads with the intent of making some craw patterns, these 5 and 5 more I didn't take a pic of, and still don't have a good variety, back to the workbench

It's tough, I've got so many different colors I can make, I tend to want to experiment, rather than make what I need, but i've made some really nice looking stuff in the past doing this

Dampeoples,

Where do you get the flouro weed guards from?

Not fluoro, they're just 'clear'.

If you want fluoro, find a pound test that's .018 to .021 in diameter, cut it in 1 3/4" lengths. Heat a lighter or a piece of metal up, stack your fibers together, then touch them to a hot part of your lighter or metal. You can also do it by burning, it's just messier. Far as I know, fluoro weedguards are not commercially available, and most folks couldn't tell you the difference

Dampeoples,

What size jig heads and hooks are on those bad boys? I like all of those colors and feel like they could all be effective. I think you should keep experimenting......heck, that's probably what got you into making baits in the first place. You never know what you might stumble onto. It must feel good to catch a hog on your own lures. Keep up the good work!

Jesse,
They're 1/8, 1/4 and 3/8 oz heads, and 1/0,2/0 and 3/0 wide gap hooks!

Come on out to our next event, you can grab a few outta my box

I am working on getting someone to fish the event with me. The trick is getting someone who is willing to get up that early. A lot of my friends are still in college and are used to going to bed around the same time we would be getting up. But I am planning on fishing the event at Mackintosh.....even if I have to do it myself. I will be sure to check out those jigs then!

Just PM me when you get some recessed line tie jigs like the "Grassmaster", and I'll have a few or dozen made up.
