Maybe you've seen these before...They look a little silly but I have a few freinds who own some and swear by them!..Say they take a little to get use to,but they wont go back to normal shoes.

I've already started my Christmas list, and a pair of Vibram Five fingers are on the top of the list....lol.....From talking with folks that wear the "ugly toe shoes" everyone says the same thing....."They'll never go back to wearing normal shoes again".

They range between $88-$150 depending on the style..Thats a rough estimate
REI sells them I know...I wanna try a pair myself..I like going barefoot in the house, but outside my feet are extremely tender....But Im looking at the trek style to try trail running in....I dont trail run but if I had those shoes I might start!
Plus I want something that would be good for kayaking...when I get a kayak

I wore boots for most of my life....either cowboy boots or steel toed work boots....When I put them on now it feels like i've got a concrete block tied to each leg...lol. Currently there is a whole "Barefoot lifestyle" movement going on across this country as well as Canada and Europe.....Barefoot running is a huge movement, so now shoe manufactures are trying to catch up, and many of them are making whats known as "Minimalist" shoes. I think were gonna be seeing alot more of those in the near future.

It doesn't take long before that tender feeling goes away.....I could bearly walk across the yard when I started this, and now I can walk down a gravel road without much trouble.

According to the othopedic doctor, my arches have also caused the mechanics in my right ankle to be incorrect (instead of hinge straight up and down, my right ankle hinges at about 40 degrees to the outside. Makes walking a real biatch!). It hurts really bad to walk barefoot nowadays.

Great thread! I'm sure there are those out there that would call me a redneck but I'm pretty tame compared to some around here. We had a guy in our National Guard unit that was working at NTC (desert warfare training in California) who forgot to pack underwear and toiletries(sp?). He didn't have any money so some of the guys pitched in and gave him money to buy some at the PX so he could take a shower. He took the money and bought a case of beer instead! When we were in Iraq he got a two week leave. His wife rented a limo and picked him up at the airport. They then went to Ryan's for a celebration meal in the limo. Now thats what I would call being a redmeck is all about.
