If you had to pick one bait to throw..
what would ya throw in a 10-15 ft deep cove, with lots of timber and tree stumps coming out of the water? Only one.

jig it is. but since everyone in that cove seems to be throwing a jig I might try a 4'' hollow body swimbait

I fish a small lake that has the same type cover and water depth, and my go to bait is usually a jig.....or something simular like a Ragetail Lobster on a keel weighted hook

hey flaconman, welcome to the Nut-House!
I agree with ya though, except I'd go with a soft plastic jerkbait like a fluke or even a t-rigged Senko. BB

Black spinnerbait with a dull(not very shiny) blade; or a dropshot rig with a any kind of gulp worm depending on where the timber was.

I hate jumping on the band wagon, but a jig is my answer. It can be very verstile. You can drag it, hop it, stroke it, swim it, work it fast or slow. Yep, a jig would be it for me.

Can you drag finese jigs over logs and whatnot? I ask because I have had alot of success with worms in this enviornment, riging them weedless and then rolling it over a stump or a log and letting it fall. This has worked well for me. So next time I go out I will try a jig. I just thought that with a jig I would get hung up alot on the timber. Thanks everyone

OHhh man, if you aren't fishing a jig in the heaviest stuff you can find they you aren't fishing it right. They are made to be some of the most weedless baits out there, although they will get hung up in riprap and square edged rock, they are best used in very heavy cover. I would recommend throwing a flipping jig over the logs and working it really slow, on a semi tight line.
