Who would you invite to dinner?
All right, I was asked this question at a party and it started a pretty interesting discussion....
If you could invite any two famous/infamous people to dinner who would you invite? For the sake of the discussion you may bring back the dead for your dinner party and the definition of famous is up to you. Explain your reasoning if you wish , but it is not required. I will withhold my answer for a little while, since I'd like to see where you guys go with this....

The easy first choice for many people would be Christ.
But since thats a very obvious answer, I will go with 2 others. Thomas Jefferson Sir Thomas More

Dave Chapelle and Tupac Shakur. Dave for the laughs, Tupac to find out who killed him.

If Tupac is dead, he probably doesnt know who killed him. Remember, he was shot up at a stop light at night with Shug Knight.
I'm disappointed in yalls picks. No Ghandi. No TE Lawrence. No Robert E Lee or Napoleon or George Washington or Caesar. No Sparticus or Gengis Khan or Richard the Lionheart. No Jonas Salk or Nathaniel Hawthorne or Leonardo Da Vinci for goodness sake. I mean Jenna Jameson? She is good for only 1 thing, but there are others in this world now who are just as easy and just as good at the same thing. At the dinner table, she would just turn out to be as dumb and as interesting as a brick made of mud. Barry Bonds and OJ Simpson? Good luck suriving. Better make sure they only get to use plastic knives. Bonds might not seem violent yet, but as much as he has juiced.... Deano and ole Blue Eyes? Well, they can sing to you, but you can also just get a CD and play it during dinner and save your pick on someone better... Dave Chappelle? Why, cause we havent heard the words "I'm Rick James, *****" enough in this life? I mean nobody here wants to sit across the table from say, Moses? Can you imagine how interesting that would be? Hell, if such an invitation compelled the person to show I would just invite Osama Bin Laden and stab him in his neck with a fork.

Jefferson is an interesting choice, I'm not sure I'm so keen on Sir Thomas More, but rather than exposing my ignorance I'll do a little more research and comment later... I was going to go with Abraham Lincoln and Robert E. Lee, I'm thinking that The conversation between the two would be illuminating and seeing as they never met, I'd provide the opportunity. I was also, leaning towards a biblical figure like Moses or David, Maybe Peter or Paul, or possibly Mary and Joseph... anyway, I said two choices and I'll have to stick to two - I'll go with Lincoln and Lee...

I also thought about biblical people but know that i will see all of them one day and have plenty of time to chat... Went with a couple of people who i tought would be great people to dine with and provide some entertainment.

I don't really know. I'm thinking about explorers like Lewis & Clark or Daniel Boone, since I'm sure their stories would be incredible. I don't think that I would want to sit and talk with any of the "great thinkers", I've read some of the books and would refer to spend my time hearing great stories. I would group many of the world leaders (past and present) in this category also. On second thought I would like to talk to Karl Marx.
For now I'll go with "Lewis & Clark" as one and Karl Marx as the other. This is subject to change after my first 12 pack this evening. I will also pose this question to my wife and see who she picks. (I have an idea) Would it be appropriate just to order pizza? Edit: PnJ, I was also considering Morrison but from which years? Early or later? |

Obviously Christ would be a definite choice. But, I'll have plenty of time with him some time. Not to repeat anybody but- Dale Sr. would be awesome, my favorite driver of all time, he also was an avid hunter and as stated above a semi pro bassin guy. My other choice would be "The Man in Black", hopefully June would come along to. To go with the living- George Bush(Sr), Bono.

My wife corrected me, I should have had Vonnegut over Marx (or especially Morrison), and I agree.
Her choices: Anais Nin and Charles Bukowski. I was wrong in my guess of Frank O'Hara for her. I know she liked him since they are both Hopwood Award winners. |

Benjamin Franklin and William Blount
I got some questions about the constitution and exactly what the founding fathers had in mind when they wrote a few things in it. |
