Really the best way to land a fish would be with a rubber coated net. Nets craddle and support the whole body. I always thumb bass but always make sure I hold them in a vertical position. If you do hold it horizontal for a picture, always support the fish by holding it with two hands!
Rubber coated nets are better on the fish than the old netting. The thick rubber doesn't do any hard on the fish's gills, and they can't get tangled in it! Good fishin' |

Yeah always use a net for a boat if the tournament allows it and your partner is ok with landing your fish... you can also thumb them if your fishing without trebles. Also if you are fishing with a crankbait or something you can grab them under the belly. if you want to see the belly method Mike iaconelli uses it all the time so watch his tv show, City limits, or just look him up on youtube. While on the bank you can just drag them up, but if its a big fish you can walk into the water to lip it. Also if you can drag them up onto the grass in the water (like the kind you fish not the kind you mow) and them lip them.

Most this time I'll lip them if they're not a dink, other wise I'll just pull them on up. If you're not much one for bending over, a rubber net works great, but that's far if you from shore--you know, having to walk around with a net get to be a pain! Or like Aiken said, just drag them up, but I prefer not to that if I'm letting them go, it will rub the slime off.
