cleaning "tin" boat
I have a new aluminum G3 ("Bubbles" is her name). Anyway, I have had her out on several lakes but haven't cleaned her yet. The primary reason that I haven't given her a wash is because I don't know what to use. I don't want to use something that will take the paint off or dull the clear coat. Any suggestions? Should I just use soap and water? Can I use the bass boat cleaner that is used on glass boats on my boat?

WTL, yes, I named my boat Bubbles. I called her that because ever since I have known my wife, when I would work or fish late, I would joke and tell her that I was out with my secret girlfriend, Bubbles. So now that I have a boat, I thought it was fitting to call her Bubbles.
At first blush, I am sure that the name sounds a "little light in the loafers" but thinks of all the manly things that can be said . . . for instance, when someone wants to come fishing with me I can reply, "you can fish, but you must ride Bubbles from behind". When it rains, I can say "Bubbles and I took a bath together". Once I get a boat cover, I can say, "time to undress Bubbles". |

I'll leave Bama or Mississippi to tell the story, but if they do, in fairness they should post that picture.

Get you a garden type sprayer and go to a local auto parts store. Get a product called alumashine. Put that in your sprayer. Get the boat very wet and then evenly spray the boat with the aluma shine. Keep in mind that it will white spot plastic if the chemical gets on it and will do the same on the painted surfaces. Just keep the hose handy to wash off immediately and you will be fine. After spraying boat let sit for about 45 seconds and hose completley off. Do it again. and then very throughly hose down the whole rig. Dry here off anmd she will look like a brand new one.

Hey, Bama when your done trolling for strippers at Smith Lake send it up north so we can troll for world record muskies. If we hook one on that big of bait, I don't know where we would put it in our boat.

I'm waiting to see what Kevin does with the rest of the pictures. I don't want to post a pic and spoil something that Kevin's working on.
Otherwise, believe me, that pic would've been on here Sunday afternoon as soon as I got all of them loaded on Photobucket. |
