Excuses for getting skunked
Best I've heard was:
"The fish aren't biting because the water's so muddy. All that dirt fills up their stomach so they don't want to eat." So what is the funniest excuse you've heard -or used yourself- after a day of no catching? |

The classic...."They (SCDNR) put soemthing in the lake to get rid of some of the weeds in the water, so it made the bass sick and they don't want to eat anymore!!!!!"

Bryan, I hope that's not one you've used.
Either way, that's hilarious. BB

I heard this one at a seminar by a fishing guide....
"Fishing is tough when the barometric pressure is high because it wreaks havoc with the bass' air bladder and creates too much pain for them to move around and feed." |

I've allways heard that a barometric pressure plays a role in bass feeding behavior, but It seemed to me that the water raising or lowering a few inches would put more pressure on their air bladder than a degree or 2 of barometric pressure.

As for my personal excuse when I've been skunked or just caught a few is pretty simple, and it's the truth. It's not the fish, it's just me. I sucked today.

This one came from a fellow church member on a camping/fishing trip this summer.
Steve (after fishing for 4 hours without a bite) - "I don't think there are any more fish in this river." Pastor (under his breath) - "I think I would have come to the realization that I can't fish." I about fell out of my chair when I heard my pastor. |

a guy in my club who is known for making guys laugh until they can't stand up used this one time after a tournament.
"the water is too wet. the water is so wet that when i set the hook on a fish it just slipped out of his mouth." i might add that this guy was a good stick and almost always finished well in tournaments.

Easy, I just blame it on whoever I am fishing with... However, I will be using the water is too wet as soon as possible.

if im fishing with someone that has never fished in a boat and we hadnt caught any fish. right before we leave i point out that all the fish on the fishfinder are facing to the port side of the boat and say "we were fishing the wrong side of the boat all day"......... the funny thing is some of them believe it.
