Top end speed- where did it go?
Hi folks, I have a 1989 champion with a 175 black max pushing her. Over the years, I've owned it since 1999, it has lost top end speed but not R.P.M.s. It will max out R.P.M. wise at 5900 just like it always has but I've lost about 10 mph. I had carbs rebuilt, fuel pump rebuilt, new plugs and all electrics checked out on a dyno at my local mercury dealer, everything received a clean bill of health. The prop is good with no damage. I'm I missing something or is the o'l girl just getting tired?
P.S. Has anyone heard from cmorg? How's is momma and baby? |

Maybe you have just accumulated too much tackle! Haha, I know I've lost some at least 3-4 MPH because of that. Not really sure though since RPMs are the same, sounds like it's slipping more than it used to.

I really don't know what would cause that but I hope you get it figured out and it's nothing big. As for CMorg, he has been on here a few times since the princess was born but I bet the majority of his time is spent making goo goo sounds to the little one.

That's a lot. Might be hauling a bit of water in the hull. It's either weight , drag, or prop slip if rpm's are the same.
