I 'd say a v haul of flat bottom boat that some one has converted to a bass boat with a deck, or perhaps no deck, maybe a average trolling motor and a small gas engine, 30-40 years old, 300-400 bucks with trailer.
Keep in mind that owning a boat at times can seem like a money pit. Batteries, gas engine upkeep, and tires/bearings of trailor, plus having some vehicle with a hitch to pull the boat. If you have DNR inspections expect to have a fire extinguisher, horn or whistle, pleny of floation like seats and also life jackets, running lights for front n back, plus stickers for the years tax. If you are just looking at a small boat for a pond however, those 2 seaters plastic boats can be found for low prices, most need a trolling motor n battery, that will probably end up costing you more than the boat . At least with that size boat, a back of a pick up is all thats needed to transport, plus some states don't require a sticker for boats under 10 foot |

I once bought a brand new fiberglass boat for $2200. Before that I had a fiberglass boat which I payed $3000 for it.
Boats are around, if you look you'll find one thats in your price range. Advise: Check one out thoroughly before buying.

The question was for a price range. Not just a type of boat.
