Shockboat Report
The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency surveyed the little mountain lake recently. They have a designated route and area to follow, but did help out by shocking one cluster of our fish attractors. Six bass, all weighing in at about two pounds each came to the top. They had difficulty in locating them in general as apparently the attractors don't fall straight down when planting.
Another difference this year is in the boat itself, the electrical probes stick straight down at the front corners of the pontoon boat and don't spread out as they did on the old boat. I spoke with the National Park Ranger in charge of the lake and he is going to check the location and conditions of the attractors during drawdown. He hopes to relocate the clusters in a tighter pattern when they become available. Even though the report is seemingly inconclusive, the attractors are working very well, considering the six bass recorded as well as the four big ones I've aluded to in previous posts. He also said that come spring, we'll plant some down the middle of the coves and possibly other locations as well. I appreciate the support of the rangers. If you still pm me your email addy, I'll still send attractor picture and building info. Thanks, and good fishing, Mac Last edited by Mac2; 10-05-09 at 10:50 AM. |

That's cool. I would like to see the shocking procedure up close and personal. It's good to see that they work with you and allow fish attractors to be placed. Are you using homemade attractors or store bought?

Culln5, I've been using my own design made with brick, rope, plastic conduit and 5 gallon pail lid. I'd be glad to send you a pic and building info if you would like. Just PM me your email address.
