Using spoons.....
Going by Kevin's line guide i don't see spoons listed, would that fall under the blade bait category? Spoons are used quite often here for catching shad.

Are you talking about spoons for shad or bass? For bass it would depend on what types of spoons you plan to use. Is it vertical jigging, ledge fishing, or in heavy weeds?

I use a palomar knot for all.
For flutter spoons used in open water and ledge fishing I use a palomar knot tied directly to a quality swivel to help eliminate line twists. Obviously for blade baits tie to a quality snap and utilize the 1-3 or 4 hole positions. For Johnson type spoons fished in light to moderate vegetation I tie directly to the spoon itself to eliminate slop/slime/snotgrass build up.

Thanks for the input sam, was referring to type of line and lb weight is best for spoons, I always use the palomar knot and usually always use a snap or swivel depending on type of bait and its action.
