Default Crankbait rods

My buddy I fish with is looking for a crankbait rod. He uses a stiff rod and has been losing a bunch of fish on it and I recommended a crankbait rod. I've been using a G Loomis graphite rod made for cranking for 7 or 8 years or so. I think it costs around $200 bucks these days and although I like it, he doesn't want to spend that kind of money.
The last glass cranking rod I used flat wore me out it was so heavy. Am I behind the times? Are they making glass rods now that aren't too heavy?

So, recommend a rod for him, if you would. Something moderately priced that's not too heavy. Please be specific--Name brand, length, action, price etc.
