Looks pretty dang cool to me. 1 out of a billion chances of catching a fish like this, and this kid did! Thing's gorgeous.

Nuclear reactor nearby? Hard to tell from this angle but I think this kids got 3 thumbs on his left hand? Illigitimate offspring of a cross between a bass and a koy? Photo-shop of some type?

The story that went along with these pictures is that it is a rare genetic disorder that causes the discoloring.

Strange indeed...must be easy pickins for the herons and such. Funny the guy in pic 2 has that sorta dumbfounded look on his face like he just bit a hog in the A$$ I would too

That would be worth maintaining a big aquarium to keep it in. Well, maybe not, but sure is pretty.

I understood it was a cross between a bass and yellow perch or yellow bluegill and a funky spawn timing where a quick warmup caused cross breeding. Another story I heard was certain farming chemicals washing into the water upstream can cause odd coloration. Hard to say for sure.

I'd venture to say it's just a mutation of sorts. No ryme or reason, I doubt it gets past from the parents. Just a random mutation. But hey.. what do I know right!

I keith I've kept bass in a tank before.. I'd love to find one that looks like this!

We had 75 gallon tank at one point. Had all kinds of things in it, but the funnest was bass and an Oscar. Things were a BLAST to feed. We'd catch lizards outside and toss em in a tank... needless to say they didn't last long! We'd also get skeeter fish in the ponds and throw 100 or so in there.. they'd last a good few days. lol
