Default Bassfishin.com Tournament - South region.

OK, so TB asked me to start this tournament for him, since his computer is down, so that's what I'll do!

This is the South region contest. Who's states include:

Alabama:
Arkansas
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
Louisiana
Mississippi
North Carolina
South Carolina
Tennessee
Virgina
West Virgina

Rules are as fallowed.

Large mouth, spotted bass, and small mouth are all counted.

Since we can't all use the same scale, you'll use this the formula: length x length x girth ÷ 1200, to make it fair. You have to have a picture of the fish next to a measuring tape showing length, and girth.

Post entires here. Biggest fish takes bragging rights!

Good luck everyone!

When we first get reports of ice on the lakes for each region.

Don't be too sure about that. VA and West VA both got iced over this past winter.

Wouldn't a tournament with actual weights be much better than relying on people's ability to take accurate measurements and a generic weight calculator?

But again.. unless everyone uses the exact same scale.. .you cant guarantee who has a larger fish if they are within say an ounce of eachother.

Even if everyone uses teh exact same expensive scale calibrated the same way... you can never guarantee accuracy between two seperate scales...

You can't guarantee the accuracy of someone trying to take measurements of a flopping, wet bass. Personally, I don't think people should claim they caught a fish that weighed "X lbs" when they never even weighed it. Weight calculators are far more fallible than scales that might be off a ounce or 2. IMO

What sux, is that your talkin about going for big fish, and being in the "South region" puts me competing against them boys in Florida....where the baitfish are as big as our wall hangers .....Would it make more sense if Fl,TX & CA had their own class?

While those states appear to have big fish, george perrys came out of ga,virtually no higher in lat than where you live or thereabouts so a record is possible in ala,ga,ark,as well.
For over 30 years the wva record was but 9 lbs,it is however all in fun,not winning a bass boat as a prize.
Just a chance to display ones catch,or what one can catch, record and send in or post.
Sounds like fun ,guess ill have to get a new camera as mines kaput.

*Ends Thanksgiving Day unless ice is reported before then.*

Kingfisher, I thought about that, but since we only have, 3, or 4 folks from Texas, Cali, and Florida, it should not be all that hard. And I only think we have one guy (cass) in cali. So you don't have all that much to worry about!
