i can and have pitched and flipped just about every rod i own with every consevable bait. hardest to do is a carolina rig. if you are running a spinner bait along a dock and get a good hit but no hook up. i pick it up and flippit back in the same place i got the hit. have caught a bunch of bass doin this. my pitches are quiet most of the time entering the water my pitches are not yet..

I have decided to get one and work on this technique for this year. I am wondering if I really need to get a 7'6" rod since the deck of my boat is not that high off the water and I am about 5'10", I am worried about bouncing off the lip or the water with such a long rod. Is the extra 6" or even 1' needed?
Also, with the St.Croix and Fenwick flipping sticks, they both are telescoping. I can't find any great pictures so can somebody please explain this, is it just the butt? I am so far partial to Fenwick, but I am still considering St.Croix and others. Edit: I will probably try to use one of my Calcutta reels first, if they don't work so well I'll get one with that fancy switch. Last edited by Bender; 02-27-06 at 10:13 PM. |

Flipping and pitching are a way of underhand casting.
