how many feet can this rod handle

so with great choosing and help from fellow member, i purchased my crank bait rod, a 7 mh M action croix premier, i love it and i can feel every nook and cranny, i have only been using 1.5 strike kings. I am sure yall know they run 5 feet. My question is with the abouve action what is the deepest crankbait i could get away with, without over loading the rod just on the bait.. Some places i have been fishng has deeper water and even with burning i hardly touch the bottem, let alone pausing and twitching it.

I would think you would be fine with all but the very deepest, largest cranks with that rod. In a cranking rod, MH will cover a lot.

There isn't a freshwater crankbait large enough to "over-load" that rod (consider a 4 lb smallmouth vs. any crankbait), however there will be a point at which it is uncomfortable to use that rod fishing a crankbait... a point you are best able to determine for yourself.

I agree with Joe on this one. Without knowing how the actual rod fishes, it's hard to tell you for sure, but it should handle most anything in it's weight range shallower than say a DD22 or Little John DD. I'd imagine the rod is rated for 1/4-3/4 or possibly 1/4-1oz?

I have that rod and use cranks rated down to 15 ft or so with no problems. It is a nice rod. BB it's rated 1/4 -3/4. I agree with oe.

I have that exact same rod and it IS a real pleasure to fish cranks with! Congrats on your purchase. As said previously, you will be fine with any crnakbait you need for deep water. My largest deep diving crankbaits work just fine with this rod. Have fun!

yea, KD, i think your the one that finally pushed me over, i love the thing, i was just looking at all the pros use 7'4 to 7'10, then it hit me, it doesnt mean they help any better but get em deeper.

Longer rods make for longer casts. It won't really effect how much weight the rod can handle or how deep the bait will dive, other than the added depth from the longer cast.

Yes... provided cover allows you to fish it where the bass are.
