Default Shimano Question

I am considering buying a new Curado, but Shimano has a recall on the reel for the level line system.I was told that Shimano will replace it for free and they have fixed the newer reels that are currently being made.My Question is does any of you know how you can tell the newer fixed reels from the other ones that are not fixed yet when they are most likely could be either one ? PNJ

Look at the date on the box with the reel. I will have to get back to ya on what the exact date is where they recalled all the bad reels and restocked store owners with the fixed versions. Gotta go to the local tackle shop and I will get the date for ya. Best I can remember is it was in February.

I have 3 of the curado reels and two of the three are the "SF" model. I bought them 2-3 years ago. I have not had any problems with mine. I enjoy fishing with them and they fit my hand well.

I do have a Browning Citroi (not sure about the spelling). It is a 6.3:1 that I have on a cranking stick from bass pro. This combo has been very productive for me. The Browning reel was less money than the curado. I would not hestitate to buy another Browning reel. I guess my choice would depend on my budget.

Bassintxlady and I bought a new curado back in Jan I belive, so far so good, no problems. But thanks for the heads up, that's the nice thing about this site... the way information is shared. I appreciate the comments and opportunity to share my experiences with the forum.

I've had no problems from a 11 year old citica that gets used everytime I go worming, all I've done is simple cleaning and oiling, and tearing them down looking for debris
