What line to use for baitcasting reels.

Im a noob to baitcasting lol, but, can use one now, pretty well, but just wondering it braid would be a better choice as in casting with the baitcaster, i dont get many backlash's maybe 1-2 a trip if that....but will braid be easier to get out of a backlash and will it limit on how many.

I like to use braid now that I have a hang of a baitcaster with as you said only a few birdsnest a trip. I put 10lb. mono backing with about a 100yds off braid. You can use less braid but just be sure its enough so you don't get to your mono during a cast as that knot will cause nothing but birdsnest on every cast.

Braid won't limit them-that is operator error

-but depending on the severity it can be easier to pick out.

15lb mono should work fine.

i use 15 pound trilene big game, and i love it. rarely get a backlash if ya know how to work a caster

Using braid for me is based on the application-you can't beat it throwing a worm or jig into timber.

yeah,definitly! baitcasting is really expands your arsenal,you can use more lures and fish heavier cover without breaking off bass. just stick with it,it will come!

I just picked up the Daiwa Rojo Procaster. Never tossed a BC in my life. Tomorrow is D-Day.

welcome to the forum corey! baitcasters arent too hard,they just take some practice. if ya want to learn it easier,do a search of the forum for how to cast a baitcast reel. also,google the same thing. good luck!

Not bad. This is a nice reel, has a great feel to it. I used a setting of about 4.5 on the magnetic breaks. Ended up with two nests. One was nasty, but that was because I got cocky and dropped the break down to 1 and somehow decreased tension on the spool. The second wasn't near as bad and was simply my error. I don't have much experience with these things at all, but I would recommend this reel to anyone wanting to learn how to use a baitcaster.
