Default 2001 Mercury XR6 Cylinder Probs

I have a 2001 Mercury XR6 on our Nitro ski boat, and first off I know close to nothing about motors and am trying to learn a little bit more. The motor will run, and 5/6 cylinders get compression but the number 4 just doesn't for some reason. I have taken the head off and the cylinder is not blown or anything it just doesn't get compression anymore. Anyone have any ideas why this is? I do not want to have to take it for repair if I can avoid it.

I will take some pictures and ask my brother in-law the exact procedure we used. He knows more about engines than I do and he is teaching me some things.
