I took apart my torno to try and oil the bearings....only problem is that it won't go back together right.....the reel won't turn right when I do get it back together...I just unscrewed the reel hand side and all and I'm having problems with getting it to fit right again....is this a hard reel to put back together....maybe someone can give me some help cause I really messed it up.

Have you got the schematics that came with the reel? If so, take a look at that. They have helped me on more than one occasion.

I love the Torno's and have a couple of them. Only thing I can say is find a really good reel repair person in your area (this may take a little time) and take yours to him/her once a year and have them taken care of.

BPACA,

These reels have a unique safety feature, in that one must use the Right-turn signal (or the Left, as occasion demands) before the reel will turn either Right OR Left. This was built into the Torno after several fishermen were seriously injured in accidents caused by turning without signalling for same.
Sincerely,

Ralph Nader

guys its back together again....I figured it out...lol...I did have to take out two small black looking breaks on the inside part but it doesn't hurt the casting ...actually I can throw lighter baits farther than before...I just wonder if its alright minus the two black breaks on the inside of the spool on the reel handle side....? Anyone know what I'm talking about.?

Whatever you do, don't lose any parts. I lost a bolt for my torno, and got charged 12 bucks, plus 8 bucks shipping (7-10 day ground) for a new one.

Those black thingys are centrifugal weights. Abu uses 3 different colored weights, white , black, blue going heaviest to lightest . You need to have the weights positioned correctly, if they are backwards, they will not work properly. They can be difficult to get the spool to seat correctly, sometimes the weights are very tight toleranced. If the blacks seem to affect your casting distance, try a blue set in the reel. Zero

Thanks a bunch....for the help guys...I went out today and hammered the crap out of them on a black buzzbait and a spinnerbait all afternoon....it was cloudy and kinda windy....I didn't think the buzzbait would work that well but man it sure was the hot ticket today.
